Oluwatoni Adebisi, MD, is the founder of Rec Room Wellness and the 2024 recipient of the prestigious James Slayton National Leadership Award. She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from All Saints University School of Medicine, Dominica, and a degree in Anatomy from Babcock University, Nigeria. Her experience spans wellness advocacy, student leadership, mentoring, and medical education.
As a longtime wellness advocate and certified Mental Health First Aider, Oluwatoni led the development of AMSA’s ‘Set Up Wellness’ toolkit, the Longitudinal Wellness series, and spoke at the AMSA Future Physicians for Change Conference in Washington, DC, on Leveraging Community for Self-Care.
Oluwatoni has also held leading roles across various organizations, including the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), ScholarRx, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). She led the creation of AMSA ScholarRx Bricks tailored for the AMSA Scholars Programs. She also managed A Drop of Black, a lifestyle blog, for five years. Her work has earned her several accolades, including the Dean’s List Honour Roll, the Student Leadership Award, and the Best All-Round Student Award in 2022. She enjoys being creative, baking, cooking, writing, and hanging out with friends.
